IKONIKAR is set to make waves in the 1:64 diecast model world by introducing a clear and collector-friendly model coding system. Ahead of its highly anticipated product launch, the brand is revealing how each release will be classified—making it easier for collectors to track and build their IKONIKAR collections.
Phase 1 Launch: Focus on "P" and "R" Series (Coming 2025)
During Phase 1 of the IKONIKAR launch, scheduled for 2025, the brand will focus on two primary model categories: "P" for Production Cars and "R" for Racing Cars.
“P” Series: Production Car Models
The “P” code will be assigned to diecast models based on real-world production vehicles. Reflecting IKONIKAR’s early emphasis on South African automotive icons, collectors can expect releases such as:
Alfa Romeo GTV6 3.0
BMW E30 325is
Ford Sierra XR8
These cars represent unique variants that hold a special place in South Africa’s automotive history.
“R” Series: Real Racing Cars
The “R” code is reserved for authentic racing car replicas, complete with period-correct liveries. Again, the early focus will highlight South African motorsport heritage, with potential models including:
BMW 325is Group N (Winfield livery, driven by Tony Viana)
Opel Kadett GSi Superboss (Delta Motorsport, driven by Mike Briggs)
Ford Sierra XR8 “The Animal” (driven by Willie Hepburn in WesBank Modifieds)
These R-coded models will appeal to motorsport fans and collectors alike, capturing the spirit of racing in miniature form.
Coming in 2026: Concept and Prototype Models (“C” Series)
In the second half of 2026, IKONIKAR will introduce the “C” code, dedicated to concept cars and prototypes. These are vehicles that made a splash with enthusiasts and media alike but never reached full-scale production. This range will celebrate automotive imagination and innovation—perfect for collectors looking for the unusual or rare.
Future Plans: Service Vehicle Collection (“S” Series)
Looking further ahead, IKONIKAR plans to launch the “S” code series. These models will replicate iconic or nostalgic service vehicles, such as:
Police cars
Ambulances
Branded delivery vans
Utility vehicles from decades past
This category adds diversity and storytelling potential to the IKONIKAR lineup.
Collectible Simplicity: Sequential Numbering
Every IKONIKAR model, regardless of its code, will begin with the number 0001 (e.g., P0001, R0001, etc.). This makes it easy for collectors to identify missing pieces and keep their collections organized.
First Release: P0001 Arriving in Late 2025
The first official IKONIKAR release, coded P0001, will be unveiled in the second half of 2025. This model marks the beginning of what promises to be an exciting new brand in the world of 1:64 diecast collectibles.
